Samsung Galaxy S2-Phone says battery is charging when it's NOT plugged in.

I got a rude shock when I saw the battery was shown charging when the charger was unplugged. I had the phone on  a car charger when on a long drive before this issue set it.  And the worst thing to happen was upon shutting down the Samsung Galaxy S2, it didn't boot and had the battery charging logo flashing...and it was never plugged to a charger.
Solution:
  1. The issue is with the USB port.
  2. The center part of the USB port was touching the other sides of the port which made the device think the charger was connected but the fast was the port was getting short.
  3. All you need to do is to use a needle or a safety pin to space the center portion (to be done with the battery removed and phone off)  else
  4. Plug in the charger again and move the charger pin slightly up and down so that the charger pin would center the portion.

Problem sorted. But also ensure that you clean the port of any debris.

  7. Hi Ayman. By socket change are you saying that the USB port on the phone is changed? My understanding of the issue is-
    1. The USB port is changed and when used with the charging cable all is Ok.
2.But on taking the cable out the problem remains.
Well, I feel the Charging Cable is damaging the USB port of the phone. Suggest you do the process mentioned in my blog with a new charging cable and then please post your response. Sorry for the delayed response and sukran jazeelan for passing by :)

  10. Awesome! It worked. Thanks! NOTE: I had to persist with the cleaning before it came right. And then had to start up the phone before it all looked correct. I fished out a good sized dust-bunny! Also, I used a sharp pin and moved it pretty 'firmly' side-to-side in the narrower gap before it eventually sorted it out. Thanks again!

  11. I am doing it right now. It seems like my charger got some cooking oil inside the male port (smells like fish), which got some oil inside the usb port of the phone. I hope cleaning it works.
